If you’ve ever watched one of our episodes of Expanded by Ori, you know that bikes are a subject near and dear to my heart. Today, we’re counting down the best Ori Expandable Apartments for cyclists.
For this list, we’ll be looking at apartment buildings all over the US that not only offer Ori Expandable Apartments, but also top notch bike amenities AND locations that will have pedal pushers feeling blissful.
As places like Denver and Seattle have become more expensive, Boise has emerged as a growing city with a thriving cycling community. The Lucy, which offers Expandable Studios with the Ori Pocket Studio, takes full advantage of the great biking to be had in Boise by offering one of the nicest bike rooms of any Ori partner building in the country.
Besides offering ample indoor bike storage, the room also features a repair stand with tables for working on your ride AND a washing area to spray down your ride after hitting the trails. The building has even organized group rides in the past for residents!
Boise has a near perfect Bike Score of 99, meaning nearly all of your daily errands can be completed on two wheels, and hundreds of miles of trails through the beautiful countryside surrounding the city.
Portland is like dying and waking up in bike heaven. It’s simply a joyous place to ride, with great infrastructure, polite drivers, and tons to see.
Novus Woodstock is located in Southeast Portland and has a fantastic bike room with plenty of room for resident’s bikes. The bike room also exits directly onto the sidewalk in front of the building, so you don’t have to contend with any stairs or elevators with your bike—just grab it and go!
There are plans to install charging stations for e-bikes; perfect for scooting around Portland, which can be a bit hilly in areas.
Novus Woodstock’s Expandable Studios feature the Cloud Bed, Table Edition for spacious living on a budget.
Portland has another near perfect Bike Score and is very much a bike-friendly town. There are dozens of high quality shops and quirky group rides. Make sure you check out Pedalpalooza, which hosts a community calendar of group rides—you’ll find one almost every night of the week! A quick search of routes around the Portland area turns up dozens of scenic rides to choose from—an embarrassment of riches!
DC is one of my favorite biking cities. It’s got strong infrastructure that is growing every day and some great trails that connect various parts of the city.
Big Sky Flats features Expandable Junior One Bedroom units with the Pocket Office—in fact, this building is one of our most viral hits! They also offer a bike storage room to keep your ride safe, and its location is also extremely convenient to the recently-opened Metropolitan Branch Trail (or MBT).
The District has been investing heavily in bike infrastructure with miles of new protected bike lanes (PBLs, to those in-the-know) and trails. There’s a great group ride scene, including the MBT Pub Roll and a monthly DC Bike Party. You'll find plenty of routes to explore in the area as well, from strenuous to relaxing.
Greenville, SC has been rated one of the best bike riding cities in the country, primarily because of its fantastic urban trail—the Swamp Rabbit Trail.
The Swamp Rabbit Trail is a 22-mile greenway that runs along the Reedy River and goes straight through beautiful downtown Greenville. The path is beautifully paved and takes you along a scenic route through woods, parks, and cities. There are grocery stores, breweries, bars, restaurants and more sprinkled all along the trail, so it’s easy to take a break and replenish anytime you want.
Beyond the Swamp Rabbit Trail, you can find plenty of long rides to explore.
Flathouse is a new apartment complex that is taking over an old hotel building in Greenville and will feature Expandable Studios with the Ori Cloud Bed. Leasing will open soon, so subscribe to our newsletter to be among the first to know!
Located right across the street from beautiful Lake Michigan, this brand new apartment in north Chicago features Expandable Studios and One Bedrooms with a full range of Ori products!
The building also features an expansive bike storage room and being located so close to the lake means you have easy access to the Lakefront Trail. This separate bike path runs along Lake Michigan and takes you safely all the way to the heart of the city.
Chicago’s bike community features a wide range of group rides for all types of riders. Check out their monthly Femmes + Thems Ride or Streets Calling Bike Club for some pedaling pals! You can also find plenty of good routes that will take you to new parts of the city you haven't explored yet.
