How does the Pocket Closet work?

The Pocket Closet is powered by robotics to enable seamless automation at the touch of a button. It rests on a set of powered wheels that drive the closet back and forth, guided by a metal track set against the wall.

What is included with my Pocket Closet order?

The Pocket Closet comes ready to assemble with furniture panels, shelves and hanging rails, and the robotics that power everything. A TV and the other accessories shown in product images are not included.

Why would I only buy the moving half of the Pocket Closet?

If you already have a built-in wall closet, you can buy the moving half of the Pocket Closet and install it against this wall closet to create the walk-in closet experience.

Do you have other colors or styles available?

We offer the Pocket Closet in oak, walnut, and white in small, medium, and large sizes.


Are the shelves and hanging bars adjustable? Do you have drawers?

The panels of the Pocket Closet come with pre-drilled holes, making the placement of the shelves and hanging bars fully customizable to suit your needs.  The Pocket Closet interior configuration can be fully customized with accessories like additional hanging space, shelves, or drawers, which you can buy here.

What size TV works in the Pocket Closet nook?

Most TVs up to 48” fit in the Pocket Closet, depending on dimensions and size of the stand or feet. There is power within the nook to plug in the TV.

Where can I install my Pocket Closet?

You can install your Pocket Closet in any interior space, so long as the space meets the dimension and other space requirements.  The Pocket Closet should not be installed in an outdoor space.

Does the Pocket Closet need to be installed against a wall?

Yes. In order for the Pocket Closet to dynamically adjust, it runs along a 71” track that must be positioned against a wall.

What are the dimensions of the Pocket Closet?

The Pocket Closet is 82” tall. The moving half of the Pocket Closet is 23.5” deep, and the static half is 13.5” deep. It can expand across the track to create an opening as wide as 60”. The small size is 51” wide, the medium size is 75” wide, and the large size is 99” wide.

What other space requirements are needed for a Pocket Closet to work in my home?

The Pocket Closet requires hard flooring such as hardwood, laminate, tile, or polished concrete. We don’t recommend installing the Pocket Closet over carpet. The Pocket Closet performs best on flooring that is level to within 1.5 degrees of zero.  One easy way to check whether your floor is level is to use a level app on your smartphone, and test levelness in a number of different areas where you intend to install the Pocket Closet.

Can the track be configured to either side of the Pocket Closet?

Yes. The track can be configured to run on the left or right side of the Pocket Closet depending on your space requirements.

How is the Pocket Closet powered? How much power does it use?

It’s plugged into any conventional outlet, no dedicated circuit required! While moving, the Pocket Closet uses less than 1/10th the power of a hairdryer.

Where is the Pocket Closet available?

The Pocket Closet is available for purchase and shipment anywhere in the continental 48 US states.


Can the Pocket Closet be shipped internationally?

We currently only offer shipping to the continental US, but stay tuned!

When can I expect my Pocket Closet delivery?

The Pocket Closet ships 12 weeks from purchase. Once your order is complete, you’ll get an email from the Ori team to set up a delivery date!

Do you provide assembly services?

Yes! With your purchase you can choose to have us install the Pocket Closet for an additional fee. This includes white glove delivery and full assembly.

How long will it take if I assemble the Pocket Closet myself?

We expect that self-assembly would take about 3-4 hours with two people. We recommend that prior to installation you thoroughly clean and dry the floor space.

What tools do I need to assemble the Pocket Closet?

All you will need is a Phillips head screwdriver (or power drill with a Phillips head bit) and a set of Allen wrenches.


How is the Pocket Closet attached? Is it permanent?

The Pocket Closet isn’t permanently attached to your home! It’s connected in two places: first, the guide track is either taped to the floor, or, for extra stability, screwed to the baseboard, wall or floor. Second, it’s plugged into any conventional outlet.  If you purchase the static half of the Pocket Closet, we recommend that, for additional safety, you attach it to the wall using the bracket included with your purchase. That’s it!


Can my Pocket Closet be moved after it has been installed?

Yes! Since it’s not permanently attached, you can move the Pocket Closet as you’d move any other furniture. You will need to remove the guide track’s tape or screws, then replace those when the Pocket Closet is in its new home.  The mounting tape we use and recommend is 3M VHB Heavy Duty Mounting Tape 5952, 2” width.

Using Your Pocket Closet

How do I control my Pocket Closet?

You can control the Pocket Closet in three ways: with the Ori Square interface on the side of the closet, using the Ori app, or by voice control connected through Amazon Alexa or Google Home devices.

How does the Ori Square interface work?

Slowly wave your hand right in front of the Square (or touch it) to light up the control buttons. Your main control is the “preset” closet button in the bottom middle of the Ori Square.  This preset is programmed to automatically open or close the closet fully. The slider on the top of the Ori Square dims and brightens the Pocket Closet lighting. Pressing and holding the left and right arrows on either side of the Ori Square will cause the moving half of the closet to move in the direction of the arrow.


Why should I download the Ori app?

Three major reasons! First, if you have any questions or troubleshooting issues, you can contact the friendly people in Ori Support directly via the Ori app. Second, the app functions as a digital remote, so you can open or close your closet from across the room!  And Third, you can reconfigure or reset the location of your preset as needed to better suit your space, as well as activate your “lock mode” and set your passcode.

How do I set up my Ori app?

That’s easy!  Download the Ori app from the iPhone or Android app stores, then create an account. Once downloaded, simply follow the prompts on the app as it walks you through the setup steps.


How do I set up voice control?

With Google Assistant, say “Hey Google, talk to Ori”. Then follow the instructions in the Google Home app to connect to your Ori account. Use the username and password you created when first downloading the Ori app.

To connect with Amazon Alexa, you can either say “Alexa, activate Ori” or search for the Ori skill in the Alexa app. Then follow the instructions on the Alexa app to connect to your Ori account. Use the username and password you created when first downloading the Ori app.

Is the Pocket Closet safe?

Yes! The Pocket Closet meets or exceeds the recommended safety requirements for household and commercial furnishings.


What happens if the Pocket Closet bumps into something?

The Pocket Closet knows when it hits something unexpected, like a person or a piece of furniture. It automatically stops with minimal force.


I have small children and/or pets, how are they protected from the moving closet?

In two ways: First, you can always be in control of the Pocket Closet’s movement.  The preset is there for your convenience, but you also can simply use the arrows on the Ori Square, which allows you to keep an eye on any child, pet or other object as you move the closet.  Second, the Pocket Closet has a proprietary obstacle protection feature that stops the closet from moving when it feels pressure.

What happens if the power goes out?

No problem! When the Pocket Closet loses power or is unplugged, it automatically converts to “manual mode”. This allows you to easily move the Pocket Closet by hand, and open or close it as necessary. When power is restored, the Pocket Closet will work normally.

What are the dimensions of the Studio Suite?

The Studio Suite Original full size is 90.5” wide x 112.5” long x 91” tall, and the Studio Suite Original queen size is 95” wide x 126.5” long x 91” tall. The Studio Suite Slim full size is 90.5” wide x 112.5” long x 87” tall, and the Studio Suite Slim queen size is 95” wide x 126.5” long x 87” tall.


How much space would I need to fit a Studio Suite?

In order to fit a Studio Suite in your space, with clearance for access, you need at least 11’ width by 14’ length of unobstructed floor space, and 8’ ceiling height. Check out our Fit Guide for more information.

What colors and styles are available?

We offer two version of the Studio Suite, the Studio Suite Original and the Studio Suite Slim. The Studio Suite Original offers more storage, while the Studio Suite Slim has a sleeker profile.

The original Studio Suite is offered in oak/white, walnut/gray (full only), and walnut/white (queen only). The Studio Suite Slim is offered in walnut, oak and white/oak.


Where can I live with a Studio Suite?

Which accessory products are compatible with the Studio Suite?

Mattress: Any standard full or queen size mattress works with the Studio Suite! We recommend that you use a mattress no thicker than 10”, so there’s enough room for your pillows to stay on the bed while it disappears. A thicker mattress will fit, but you may need to move pillows before closing.

TV: For the Studio Suite Original, TVs up to 50” will generally fit; depending on the size of the TV stand, dimensions should be no bigger than 48” x 29”.  The Studio Suite Slim can accommodate a TV mount for TVs up to 60”.

Flooring: Hard flooring such as hardwood, laminate, tile, or polished concrete.

Cable TV hookup: We recommend having a wireless HDMI setup to avoid weaving a cable through the system.

What do I do if the arrows on the Square interface are alternately flashing?

Follow the steps for “What if the power goes out?”in the product sections above.

What do I do if the Square doesn't light up when I wave near it or press the Ori logo?

Double check that your Ori is securely plugged in and the power isn’t out. If those are both normal, contact Ori via the Ori app for personalized support. In the meantime, your Ori can always be unplugged and moved manually.

How do I get my system into Setup Mode?

Hold the left and right arrows until you hear a ringing tone, then remove your hands from the interface without touching the buttons. The Square lighting should be fading in and out. If you’re still having trouble getting into setup mode, contact Ori via the Ori app for personalized support.

What do I do if my iPhone connects to the system but says “internet unavailable”?

First, try forgetting the Ori network and put your phone in airplane mode. Make sure the Square lighting is still fading in and out, then try connecting to the Ori network again. If this doesn’t work, make sure you have downloaded the latest version of iOS. If all else fails, contact Ori via the Ori app for personalized support.

What do I do if my Android won’t connect to the system?

Try unplugging and plugging in your Ori system, then try following the instructions in the app again. If that doesn’t work, make sure your smart network switch is off (this can be found in your WiFi settings). Then unplug and plug in your Ori system and again follow the instructions in the app. If you’re still having trouble, contact Ori via the Ori app for personalized support.

 

What are “robotic interiors”?

Ori is introducing the category of “robotic interiors” to modern living.  Robotic interiors are furniture and architectural elements of interior space that can be powered by robotics to transform them from static to dynamic to make the space feel and function as though it were much larger. Just about any space has the potential to be transformable.
